Learning Objectives

  • Describe the foundation of common ethical principles that are utilized in problem-solving ethical dilemmas.
  • Discuss the legal “must knows” and “must dos” that will help defend a clinician’s competency in a professional board investigation or lawsuit involving a complex ethical dilemma.
  • Describe ethical decision making models and how to apply them to various complex decisions in eating disorder treatment (involuntary hospitalization, patient resistance to treatment, palliative care, etc.).
